Deadliest Catch Star Nick Mavar Dead At 59

Deadliest Catch Star Nick Mavar Dead at 59

Tragic Loss for Reality TV Show Community

Longtime Deckhand Passed Away Thursday in Alaska

Nick Mavar, a deckhand who served alongside Captain Sig Hansen on the Northwestern for 17 seasons of Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch, has died at age 59. Mavar's death was confirmed by the Bristol Bay Police Chief on Thursday.

Mavar, a native of Croatia, joined the Northwestern crew in 2005 and appeared in 98 episodes of the show until 2021. He was known for his tenacity and hard work as a deckhand, and his death is a heartbreaking loss for the Deadliest Catch family.

The cause of Mavar's death is still under investigation, but it is believed to be natural causes.

Mavar's passing is a reminder of the dangers faced by those who work in the fishing industry. Deadliest Catch has chronicled the lives of Alaskan crab fishermen for over 20 seasons, and the show has tragically lost several cast members over the years.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mavar's family and friends during this difficult time.
